#winedownwednesday over here! Opened this beautiful late harvest dessert wine Dolce from @nickelandnickelwinery and wow. I can tell how my palate has evolved and continues to evolve. I have a better appreciation for the different types of flavors in wines. “Sweet” used to be the word describing cheap wines with added sugar (ahem, White Zin, I’ll leave it there) so I would always ask for crisp, dry whites and didn’t even know how to approach a dessert wine or even understand the difference of added sugar and residual sugar. It’s all part of the learning process! Then I got into port and amaro and ice wine and trying to learn more about these late harvest wines that have more residual sugar but are so complex and interesting. When we joined the Hosted at Home event with Nickel and Nickel, they went into great detail about the process of making the wine, how to drink it, how to appreciate it and how to pair it. The thing that blew my mind most was tasting it with some blue cheese 💯 Let’s just say run, don’t walk for this! So fun, so delicious. No matter where you are on your journey exploring wine and wine tasting, this is so special and unique it needs to be added to tour list. Bubbles up!
