Another edition of #italianwednesdays ! Last week was our first time trying our hand at pizza, and since we don’t have a pizza stone we did it in a cast iron skillet, and it turned out BOMB! We are running it back again tonight so stay tuned to follow in my stories!
Dough from @delaurentifoodandwine in @pikeplacepublicmarket
Made our own sauce with San Marzano tomatoes. Blended with salt, pepper, thyme, oregano and a touch of red pepper flake from @marketspice then topped that pie with shredded mozzarella.
On the white pizza we started with truffle oil from @abitoftaste then some shredded mozzarella cheese. Next we chopped up some fresh chives, salt pepper and mixed into whole milk ricotta (better flavor and less runny so no soggy pizza!) and put dollops on the pie.
Both were so simple!
-Heat oven to 475 (with cast iron in it)
-Remove pan from oven and sprinkle with semolina flour and gently press dough into pan
-Add sauce or oil (or whatever base you use)
-Top with cheese and toppings
-Bake for ~10 mins
And done! I suggest pairing with wine, we went with a Lambrusco 🍷 Bubbles up!
