Thanks for being part of my community! I am new at this so bear with me. I’d love to share a bit about myself and who the face behind The Champagne Diary is.
My name is Mary. I was born and raised in North Carolina. I spent 15 years in NYC before moving to Seattle. NYC was an amazing city where I made so many memories and some of the best friends. But it wears you down. I worked in finance and my husband and I spent years trying to figure out where to go after NYC, because, what could possibly compare??
We got the great opportunity in 2017 to move to Seattle. WIldly different and away from our families and friends, though have made amazing new family out here. So that’s how I ended up in Seattle!
I always took tons of pictures on trips and with friends and of what I’m doing, and I wanted to create a fun way to capture my story beyond making yet another scrap book or photo album, so thought, hey, it’s 2020, maybe I can figure out how to start a blog to support my Instagram journey. So here it goes. A little more about me:
>I love champagne. 2 of my best friends and I refer to each other as champagne, which inspired the name of this page. What to eat with champagne? What to wear with champagne? I can’t drink champagne nonstop but I consider it a state of mind 🙂
>I love food. I love trying new food. I love eating classics. I love cheap food. I love fancy food. If I was asked what my favorite food was, I would say cheese. And anything with cheese. But I also love sushi. And GOOD tacos. And I have to have eggs for breakfast, I can’t do sweet (unless there are also eggs!). Though I love the lemon ricotta pancakes at Ben Paris in Downtown Seattle. I love pizza. I love pasta. I love burgers. Dang. I love food, I will leave it there.
>I am married with 1 dog. My husband and I went to college together (Columbia University) though didn’t start dating until a few years after college. We were good friends from Freshman year onwards, but just didn’t make the transition from friends to more than friends for a while for fear of losing that beautiful friendship. We adopted our Yorkie Dachshund mutt Joey in 2010 and he will be 13 years old in Feb 2021! You’ll see him on my Instagram stories.
>I love to travel, like many people. Growing up, I did not have the opportunity to do much travel, so by hook or by crook since graduating college I made sure I took advantage of any opportunity to travel and experience more of the world. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had and hope that once the world is safer we can resume exploring the world!
>I started this page in December 2020. I started my Instagram account in March 2020. I am continuing to learn so appreciate your patience!!
